Voice over internet protocol (VoIP) telephony is no longer “next generation” telecommunications technology, a new report asserts.

A study from Grant Thornton indicates that the telecoms system does not represent the future, but the present – “it is here now”, says the company’s head of technology, Sarika Patel, reports Call Centre Focus.

“VoIP has disrupted the traditional value chain in the communications industry with the focus now falling on IP rather than traditional voice calls,” Ms Patel added.
